Our Story

Alive On Purpose, founded in 2013 by LaToyia Lewis, began as a pioneering organization dedicated to empowering fathers and daughters through supportive initiatives, fostering resilient relationships, and promoting the mental health and well-being of young girls. Our mission was deeply rooted in LaToyia’s personal journey, shaped by her struggles to maintain a healthy relationship with her father and her own experiences navigating challenges such as suicide ideation as a teen and young woman. Recognizing the profound impact of father absenteeism, Alive On Purpose was established to bridge the gap between fathers and daughters, ensuring that every girl has access to the support, guidance, and love that contribute to a fulfilling life.

For over a decade, we have been at the forefront of youth development, reaching young people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances. We have actively engaged youth that other organizations found challenging to reach, providing prevention, awareness, and practical support. Our philosophy has always centered on the belief that every girl deserves the experience of a healthy father-daughter relationship. By addressing the emotional complexities that arise from father absence, we have fostered resilience, emotional intelligence, and self-discovery among girls aged 12-17.

As we look ahead, our evolution continues with the formation of The Him & Me Foundation, a natural extension of our work that reinforces our commitment to strengthening father-daughter relationships and empowering young girls. The Him & Me Foundation is dedicated to equipping girls with the tools they need to thrive emotionally, mentally, and socially. By fostering meaningful relationships—particularly between fathers and daughters—we create transformative opportunities for healing, growth, and deeper community connections.

Through innovative programs, therapeutic initiatives, and creative expression, The Him & Me Foundation will build on the legacy of Alive On Purpose while expanding our reach. We will continue offering workshops, school programming, mentorship opportunities, and signature community events like the annual father-daughter dance. These initiatives will provide essential tools and resources for fathers and daughters to strengthen their bonds, navigate life’s challenges, and embrace their shared journey with confidence and resilience.
